Kelo: Property Rights Under Siege
One of the most fundamental rights that we as Americans have always enjoyed is under siege. Since the Supreme Court’s Kelo decision, our property rights have been under a steady and consistent assault that must be countered. We need your immediate support for a Constitutional Amendment to protect our property rights.
It’s not surprising that the same Socialist Obama Administration that seizes American banks and automakers, offers bailouts to the most reckless and undeserving corporations, and is now attempting a government takeover of health care, would be completely unconcerned by the rapid erosion of property rights in the United States of America. It’s not going too far to say that we’ve entered Soviet territory.
The United States Constitution, not some International Law, is still the law of this land. And the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right of all Americans to possess and be secure in their private property.
The Supreme Court’s Kelo decision allowed judicial activists to write on our Constitution with crayon and trample our rights. Kelo authorized the town of New London, Connecticut to seize the home of an American citizen and transfer the property to a business.
And the government justified its decision to transfer Susan Kelo’s home to a business by saying that the business would generate more tax revenue for the government!
Liberals are always looking for new ways to raise taxes and grow government, but this is so unprecedented, Unconstitutional, and downright immoral that Americans need to stand up and unite against this violation of property rights.
Since Kelo, state and local governments across the country have undermined and weakened property rights further through eminent domain property seizures, zoning rules, property regulations, and taxation. American families, American homes, and American property rights are under assault, and we need to fight back immediately!
We need your support for a Constitutional Amendment that specifically protects the rights of American citizens and families to own and control property. It’s a sad day in America when the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution isn’t enough to protect our rights, but a Property Rights Amendment is absolutely necessary—especially with the Obama Administration filling the courts with liberal activists like Sonia Sotomayor.
Our Founding Fathers pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor for our freedom. Now it’s our turn to stand up and protect our fundamental rights by supporting a Property Rights Amendment and other policies that safeguard our freedoms.
