Citizens for the Republic Endorses and Joins
Nationwide Tax Day Tea Party Coalition

Washington, D.C.—Citizens for the Republic, a national conservative advocacy organization originally founded by Ronald Reagan in 1977, just endorsed and joined the Nationwide Tax Day Tea Party Coalition. The group is uniting with other major conservative organizations to denounce the federal government’s abusive taxation and out of control spending with a nationwide multi-city Tea Party protest on April 15th.

Citizens for the Republic will participate in the national protest at the Treasury Building in Washington, D.C. in an effort to mobilize its grassroots network against government taxation and reckless spending. The group is also launching an independent petition drive in opposition to the massive increase in government spending that will soon cause the federal budget deficit to balloon above $1.8 trillion this year alone, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

The Nationwide Tax Day Tea Party is a collaborative grassroots effort organized by leading conservative online activists—including the DontGo Movement, Smart Girl Politics, and Top Conservatives on Twitter. There will be Tea Parties in more than 1,800 cities nationwide on April 15th.

"We’re going to make Samuel Adams and all the Sons of Liberty proud on Tax Day," said Stephen Manfredi, Executive Director of Citizens for the Republic. "This nation cannot tax and spend its way to prosperity. It’s unfortunate that the Obama Administration and Democratic Congress need to relearn history the hard way, and on the taxpayers’ dime." Citizens for the Republic, Inc. (CFTR) is a national organization dedicated to revitalizing the conservative movement. Through education, grassroots organization, advocacy, and political activism, CFTR promotes the principles of limited government, maximum freedom, personal responsibility, peace through strength, and defense of the dignity of every individual. These are the ideas that Ronald Reagan championed when he founded the original CFTR in 1977 to make conservatism a vibrant political force.
