CFTR Petition to Oppose the Stimulus

WHEREAS, President Barack Obama violated his campaign commitments to bipartisan leadership, transparency, and responsible government in signing the $787 billion stimulus package absent consensus and adequate debate;

WHEREAS, Congressional Democrats passed the most wasteful spending bill in American history without sufficient opportunity for lawmakers to read and consider this consequential legislation;

WHEREAS, the $787 billion stimulus package was larded with extravagant spending for liberal special interests, included negligible stimulative components, and will likely have no ameliorative effect on job and economic growth, even in the short run;

WHEREAS, the stimulus package constitutes the largest transfer of wealth between generations and will drastically enlarge our ballooning national debt;

WHEREAS, the stimulus package will deprive the private economy of capital for future economic investment, leading to long-term economic stagnation;

WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, submit to President Barack Obama and members of the 111th United States Congress this petition in firm opposition to the American Recovery And Reinvestment Act of 2009. We demand that you repeal this detrimental legislation for the sake of our nation’s present and future prosperity
